I found a set of World Mfg. heads for the 2.9, will they work on the 2.8?

the 2.9 is Hydraulic. the 2.8 is not. Doubt they will bolt up.

thought about it myself and got the info for the motors. the 2.9 qill bolt right in if you get a whole motor. but you cannot swap heads. Sucks but hey 2.9's are just as rare these days as the 2.8

The intake ports on a 2.8 are not equidistant, while the 2.9's are.
