I am looking to get a replacement carb for my 77 Pinto 2.3 liter and I was wondering what the differences in the years of the Holley 5200 carbs?
Is there a difference in the jets or something?
Any insights are great!
IMHO, stick with the same year. It is bolt on, plug up and go. One years difference could cause headaches and hair loss.
The earlier models did not have the feedback solenoid and the primary venturi is larger than the later ones, ('74 or'75 & up)
Why not rebuild the carb you have? They are simple to work on. :)
the carb on the car has actually been rebuilt about five times since I bought the car.. rust issues that have been solved.... there is no telling how many times the carb was rebuilt by someone else and it just isn't responding pefectly. the car fires right up and runs really good on it but there is a bad problem with bogging down when trying to rev or accelerate. I do plan on keeping it as a spare in the car in case I run into problems like I did in 2006 when I had a carb problem.. with the same carb. rust plugged it up.
