i put a 2.3 engine from a 79 zphere into my 79 wagon but had to use my oil pan from my wagon cause the new one would not fit over the front, and now my dipstick is towards the back where my old one was near the front so i cannot get a reading on my oil level.is there another pan i could use that would work? thanx dave
up where your dipstick would go on the pinto engine will be a plug. you need to remove it and relocate the dipstick there and use the plug to plug the existing hole where the stick is now. its easiest to get to it from the bottom. use a punch to knock it out. and i assume the engine is already in so its gonna be a bitch to get to. good luck.
Or you can do what I did on my 93 and 94, drill 3/8" hole in valve cover top forward left corner right next to curve use a 94 ranger dip stick. Plug hole with 1/8" pipe plug. Fred :)
thanx guys!
