Hello to All!!! I just bought a dune buggy with a sweet 74 Pinto 2.0L in it. The buggy has some after market guages and I want to hook them up. The issue is that my manual makes no metion of where the Temp sensor and oil pressure sensor hook up to the engine and I can't figure it out. Any help would be spectacular. And pictures would be ridiculous. Thanks and happy driving. :fastcar:
not sure onthe 2.0 but the 2.3 has a spot on the rear drivers side of the head for the oil pressure sender and the passenger lower about 2/3s back has a spot for a water temp sender. you need to look at theengine as if it would be oriented in a front engine car.
on the 2.0 the oil pressure goes on the intake side of the engine in the front lower block area, water temp is on the exhaust side, rear lower block area. :)

My water temp sending unit comes out of the block on the drivers side below the oil pressure location. I need a spot for my temp sensor for the elctric fan. Where exactly is the spot on the passenger side?
jim, since ive got a oil cooled only turbo i just used the stock turbo coolant return on the passenger side of the block for my guage. should be just fine for what you are needing.
I really appreciate the help from everyone. The only issure that I have is that there a lot of places that these sensors could go and there are no sensors right now; there are only bolts and holes where the sonsor could go. If someone could describe in further detail the location of the oil pressure and water temp sensors it would really help me out. Or pictures. I really appreciate you guys help in this matter and hope everyone is having a great day. :afro:
My experience is with 71-72 2.0's but the sender locations should be the same for the 74 2.0. Mine only had warning light switch type senders stock. The dimensions below are given assuming the stock Pinto orientation (your buggy orientation may be reversed). As confirmation that you have the correct holes, look for tell tale oil from the oil pressure hole and rusty residue in the water temperature hole. Also the water temperature sender hole is larger than the oil pressure sender hole.
The oil pressure sender screws into the driver side of the block about 4" above the oil pan flange and about 4" in front of the rear of the block.
The water temperature senders screws into the passenger side of the block about 4" above the oil pan flange and about 2-3/4" in front of the rear of the block.
Have fun.
