HI,, I just found your Pinto group a few days ago, I am currently in the process of buying a 1974 Pinto Squire and restoring it. As I have grown up owning a few of these, I really enjoy the car! As I get into this project I want to meet others that own pinto's,, and also am in need of restoration help. Especially in the mouldings dept. Out here in the desert, you can find rust free cars,, but the plastic and fiberglass mouldings suffer from the heat. I am in need of restoring the squire mouldings that go around the woodgrain on the sides. And Hopefully,, someone knows of a good woodgrain that doesnt fade or peel back off.. Thanks! VLeeTX@aol.com
:welcome: aboard. this is a great site lot of good people that can help. I dont have a wagon so the trim pieces im not sure about but someone on here will have a good idea.

Are you in West Texas? I am guessing that from your email addy. I live near Dallas, picked up a '76 wagon last year, and agree - the heat/sunlight does a number on all the vinyl and plastic interior parts!!
My understanding is that the woodgrain vinyl is available, but I do not recall where - someone here will hopefully chime in.
There is a '74 wagon just South of Dallas (woody wagon) that appears to have complete trim - the guy advertises $900 for the car. Maybe we could go in on it together, get it for a better price, and part it. You can have all the woody trim stuff, I neede other pieces (including a rebuildable 2.3 motor).

HI,, As you can figure out, I am stil finding my way around the site, and how to post etc. I live in southern california,, Rancho mirage. The car I just bought was an original california car. A 1974 Pinto squire,, 2.3 auto, a/c. It has been sitting in storage for a few years,, so it looks to be a project for me. The good news is,, the only rust on the car is on the door pillar right behind the drivers window where the back window hinge attaches. And that appears to be only surface rust from the hinge moving. The car needs a major cleaning to see if I need a paint job. But I already know the plastic contact paper wood sides are toast. The mouldings apear to be intact,, but weathered,, so I need to restore them. As I get into the car, I am sure I will also be hunting dash pads and such. There was a amc pacer sitting beside it that had the windows down on it,,and it looked like a beaver on steriods had a go at the interior of it. But lucky for me,, mine was closed up and remained safe.. Victor
Hey Pop, He lives in Southern Cali, should we warn him about BluPinto?
CB:
Did anyone warn us? Nope. Let the cards fall as they may, we all have burdens to bear, lessons to learn.... :P.
Chris

Indeedy you are CB...   I'll think of something...
I'm in Oceanside so I'm not toooooo far from RM. Congrats on your Squire. I have a '74 Runabout with the squire (deluxe) trim. Hope to meet you in some Pinto-related setting. :)
I want some heck, too...... :P
BLU, you need to define "Pinto related setting"......
Let's see, if I was talking to my wife, how would I use this phrase....
(Her) Honey, did you go to lunch today?
(Me) Yup, with a few friends. (Insert another woman's name here) was really entertaining, she made us laugh.
(Her) Really? You never told me about (insert another woman's name here again). Who is she?
(Me) Well, it's a funny story, we met in a "Pinto related setting" a few months back....
(Her) What do you mean by THAT....     :reek: :reek:
Use this phrase CAREFULLY....
Chris
Hmm,, So are there many members out here in california? I have noticed quite a few pinto's for sale here,,, so there must be more of "us" out here.
Yep Cali is full of them, and then there's Blu!
Hi!
:welcome: to the site. You might want to check out www.woodgrain4wagons.com.
I think they'll have whatever you need.
Dwayne
CB is rite i have noticed that there is ALOT of pintonuts in cali, and then their is also a couple nuts with pintos  ;D
WOW! First of all,,thanks for the woodgrain link! It sure did not come up when I googled for parts! As I understand it,, there where two levals of trim on the squire,, one had the big wood looking mouldings,, and the second used bobcat chrome trim around the wood side aplique. Mine has the larger,, and I really should look at it good,, it must be metal under a decal,,and not fiberglass like my 56 mercury wagon has.
Oh yes,,,The nuts in the pinto's,,I do see quite a few retiree's out here in thier pinto's! Most are die hard fans of the cars and don't want to part with them. In my case, I am getting mine from a retired school teacher.
I think I am going to try and get personalized tags that say "BOOM" Victor
