Title: Need radiator info, and a reason the seat belt light stays on...
Post by: powderblue76 on June 09, 2009, 11:19:36 PM
Hello all ! !
Been a long time, and a long story, but I am back with the same '76 (2.3/C3) as before.
I noticed a pinhole in the top of my radiator a couple days ago, and was wondering about what type of radiator to get.
I could braze it, but I am also going to get the A/C working again, and don't want to stress a WillPop unit.
Is there a heavy duty style, or one from a newer vehicle that can be made to work with a little fab?
I also have a seat belt light that stays on.
I figure it is a wiring/switch fault in the buckle, but thought I would check with you smarter guys first.
Thanks, and it is good to be back ! !
Mike
P.S. Is there a fan clutch mod? Be nice to gain a couple horses and lose the Cessna sound.

Use the place I use. Radiators.com their number is 800-395-3889. I have gotten 3 rads from them and never had a problem. Prices are great, too. They deliver right to your front door. Give them a call, you use them over and over.

Thanks for the tip, but I am more interested in a larger/better/newer type radiator that will fit, even if I have to do a little fab work.
Any one have some part numbers?
Although I did a V8 for/with a friend back in high school, I don't remember the differences in a rad suitable for the swap, but I would guess that mod would work for what I have in mind.
East Texas summers, while not Africa hot, are very high humidty, and as such I need a rad to deal with 100+ days, and running an A/C on uberkill.
I also still need some insight on that crazy seat belt light staying on.
Also, I would like to know if anyone knows of a clutch fan mod.
Thanks for the help,
Mike

it sounds like the seatbelt is making a complete circuit. so i would disconnect the wife under the seat at the belt and see if it goes off.

I have had that wife under there for years, and I doubt she will want to come out ! !  ;D
Besides, my above seat wife may not understand.
I figured it was a completed circuit, but wondered if it was a common problem with the buckle switch.
As per your suggestion, I will disconnect the WIRE down there and see what happens.

I think I read on here in another post, a RAD from a 98 4.0 V6 will do the job you need.

the light on mine stays off when i turn the car on, It doesn't even blink the light with it disconnected. which is nice that i dont have that annoying little lite to bother me. but for safety reasons i always wear my seat belt. been hit one too many times and had that reminder of why they are there. if its goes off when you unplug it then its the Buckle itself not completing the circuit. if that's the case check inside of the receptacle, perhaps there is something in there or its not grounding right. either way I hope you get it fixed.
