Having trouble with my shifter adjustment after a V8 swap. I have the C4 tranny (3 speed auto, no OD). The needle to indicate which gear I'm in does not line up, and I am unable to get the adjustment so the 'notches' for the shifter line up with the appropriate gear. It is the original shifter from the C3 tranny.
Any suggestions?
My main concern is bumping the shifter when going down the road.
The arm on the Trans is splined. You may need to loosen it up and re-position it. BUT make sure you get all the gears after you do this.
I used a stock Ford floor shifter in my 71 Cuda and I seemed to remember slightly bending the bottom link mount to lenghthen or shorten the throw. If I could get it into park then it was off in 1st. A little bending to increase the lenghth away from the center fulcrum and it fit perfect. Sorry Mopar guys, I kept the stock bench seat and aftermarket shifters hit the dash when in park.
