Title: Swapmeeting is a BLAST!
Post by: blupinto on June 06, 2009, 11:23:27 PM
Behold the treasures one could find at the local swapmeet. The Clymer book I got a few weeks ago at the Santee swap meet for (sit down) 25 cents. The car I found last week at Kobey's (both in San Diego county) by chance. The pin was from the Orange County fairgrounds swap meet today. $4. What treasures did you unearth at a swapmeet (besides automotive SM)?

I havn't found much at all for Pintos or of Pintos at the swap meets here! I found a guy that bought my bumper though! LOL I wasn't even selling anything there, hubby just has the gift of gab, and one thing led to another!!

Congrats on the find!!!  ;D

Swapmeets are usually hit or miss for Pinto parts for me.  However, at the last couple swapmeets I was at I have walked away with a few things that I was not expecting to find.  Most people don't know what the parts are for.  The people that have boxes of misc NOS Ford parts are the ones I like.  I spend the time and go thru everything in their booth.  Sometime it pays off.

I have found lots of non Pinto related treasures at swapmeets thru the years. Some of them were unbleiveable steals I mean deals ;D that I could not pass up.  A $500 AFX slot car for $10 that is near mint.  I set of four Michelin TRX metric Mustang tires.  Two NOS, two with 75% tread left for $30.  My friends thought I was nuts buying these tires.  I sold them on Ebay for $350.00.  I found a whole box of sport wheel centers for $10  There were probably 15 of them plus parts. I restored the good ones that were not broken and sold them.  There was an older fellow that had two huge boxes of sport mirrors for $5 a piece.  69/70 mustang, 71-73 Mustang, 69-70 cougar pairs and singles etc.  I bought what I could carry and sold them off on Ebay again.

Yes I can say I love swapmeets too ;D

Ummmm.. No comment Becky lmao

Lets see what have a found good at a swap meet... Not much, I can tell you that.  The last swap meet I went to was at Springfield & was a mix of a car show & parts swap meet. I ended up getting a 5 band equalizer & nothing else. Very little Pinto stuff at all.

L:ast weekend I was browsing, not looking for one particular thing, at the Oceanside swap meet and my eyes caught the hood (of all things) and I knew immediately what car it was...

Tonka made it, but it was inspired by... PINTO! lol.

I always find something Pinto related at the Jefferson WI swap meet. They do it twice a year and I come home with something. This past one a couple of weeks ago a buddy on mine bet me that I would not find any parts and a couple of rows in, I found two fender/trunk badges for 10.oo. A little while later I found a whole bunch of dealer brochures other paper items. I had to pick up a 1978 Ford buyers guide that covers all of the products that was available and it included the prices. This was MINT for 8.oo
The best was near the end when I found a dash cluster that when to 110 mph (pre 1975?). I passed on it because it did not look that good and i could not find the owner. Needless to say my friend wound up buying lunch LOL!!!
It's always a hunt at Jefferson because the swap meet is geared twards Chevys and full size Ford with a few Mopars thrown in. It's also like going to a museum at times. A wet, muddy/dusty museum  ;D

That's so cool Squire Man! lol. I would love to find Pinto paper goods. The swap meets I go to are the "everything" kind of S.M.  This last Saturday my friend and I went to Sn Diego and at Kobey's I found a set of faded Mustang II hubcaps with the faux "wire" look. The MII I'm hoping to adopt already has those caps on them!  ;D
