Hi all:
My ignition module has been slowly but surely "liquidating" itself by losing its potting material, where the module sits up against the inner fender. This has created a nice "goo", with the goo traveling south through the unplugged inner fender opening, neatly depositing itself on the shock tower. :nocool:
My question is this - I know it needs replaced, no biggie, BUT, is there any real advantage to upgrading with a better ignition module - like an MSD setup, or something like that? Comments, please. The stock motor WILL be replaced with another high-perf setup, and if I have to replace the module now, I may as well think ahead. Thanks!
Chris
I like the MSD set up's they Run nice and you can buy a Chip (modular) to up the Basic function of the vehicle, I Had a 6-AL box in one of my old cars. I like them and think its worth the money if you plan to Upgrade the Motor/trans anyways.
Go to www.carbdford.com/tech/HEI.htm to see how to convert over to CHEAP HEI and get rid of the box.
THIS is the kind of info that people need to know. THANK YOU for taking the time, that is a GREAT site!!

If you really want some tech, go to www.bacomatic.org/~dw/index.htm Then go to "Automotive tech library", then go to "Dave's short tech notes" Be warned though, as this site will keep you looking for a very long time. Make sure you look at OIL and OIL PUMPS.
