Im new here. Going to pick up my 74 Pinto today after work and drive her home for the first time. New to Pinto's but also own a 71 Maverick Grabber that has been an ongoing project for several years now. I was looking for something to drive while I finish the Maverick because the wife and I have been sharing a car for over a year now and it's getting old. The pinto was sitting about 3 blocks from my house and I stopped to look at it that night. Called the kid the next day and struck up a deal for $550.00 runs and drive great, body is good shape interior shot but no biggie. Want to ditch the big bumpers and just do some cosmetic work for now. Would also like to switch to a larger rim and tire maybe 17's. Anyone here running 17's on their Pinto and have any pics?
welcome
nice combo of cars. I myself like the bigger bumpers and have a 76 bobcat and a 77 maverick.
trhe largest i have seen were 16 in rims on a 72 Runabout. i may havbe a picture if it and will try to find it.

Welcome to the forum!!
Not a bad price for a driver!! That is about what I paid for my 72 Pinto (the Ghost)!! I also have a Maverick, but it's a 72 (I think, LOL) it's actually hubby's car. It's the 4 door though! It runs good but needs some interior touch ups and a paint job!
Let's see some pics of your cars!!! We like pics!! ;D
:welcome:
Enjoy the forum, you will find plenty of help amnd friendly folks here. Have you visited www.maverick.to? It's a site that has Maverick/Comet enthusiasts.
17's are probably TOO big for your car, and unless you plan on a 5-lug setup, your choices in wheels will be limited.
Congrats on your affordable find, have some fun!
Chris
I'm a member of all the Maverick boards for several years now. I will do a 5 lug swap real soon probably put the 8in from the Mav in the Pinto and 5 lug rotors for the front. Im new/old school or old/new school I like a little larger wheel and tire thats tasteful!
Amen to that, Im going to be using the Torq Thrust D in Black or Grey with Polished outsides
:welcome:I am up above you in NC, holler anytime. Got more of us in VA and SC. We's ready to help. As the wheels go, my rule of thumb is only two sizes larger than stock(13" to 15"). There are a lot of Mustang wheels of those sizes, too, and in different widths.
16 inch rear and 15 in front
:welcome: aboard, and congratulations on what sounds like a real find!
Dwayne (in VA)
Tried to get pics up but I cant get them to 100kb. Also cant get my photobucket account to work this morning.

I have a 1980 pinto, when I used to autocross I run the 10 hole mustang wheels. 225 50 15. The tires would rub a little on the front edge of the fender. I got the body hammer on it and that fixed it. You might be able to fit 245 45 17 with a little work. good luck. Jeff
oops I ment 225 45 17 not 245
