Title: Tulsa meet this year?
Post by: popbumper on June 01, 2009, 04:56:49 PM
...I am assuming "no" since there has been nothing posted to date. If that's the case, I'll be very bummed , because I know it was held last year - right after I joined the group - and I wanted to be part of it this year. Anyone?

Chris

PS - worst case, me and 78TXPONY can start our own mini-meet in my driveway. Maybe I need to host something, and bring some folks to Texas.

Chris,

I posted this about a week before you posted here:

I remember talking with you last year. As of this writing, I have no commitment from anyone of plans to attend a Tulsa meet this year. The Mid-America Ford Performance and Shelby Meet is the car show on Sunday that was the draw the past two years that helped get Pinto enthusiasts to gather here. It is a Sunday car show, kind of tough on scheduling, but has events all weekend long. I am watching my thread daily for any interest.

I don't recall if your car is road ready or if you can trailer it. Driving or trailering to a car show a very long distance is certainly an issue. I would absolutely encourage you to get to know Pinto enthusiasts in your area and host a mini-meet. You are in a large city. I would suggest finding out about large Ford shows in your area that might be a draw as I have done in Tulsa. With enough planning, I would love to trailer my car to DFW for a meet.

Let me know your thoughts.

Dave

Dave:

Thanks for the info. I was not as concerned about taking my car (which is not ready - another year, I think), but getting together and meeting with some of the folks like Frank and yourself.

I agree that Dallas would be a good place for a mini-meet though I still don't see a large concentration of enthusiasts here - maybe I have not looked hard enough. It's certainly worth a thought, perhaps for next year.

Thanks for your time, I appreciate it.

Chris

In Tulsa too, several Pinto's in the area, but most aren't driven, I see them in my work travels from time to time, usally  neglected in garages, shops, or salvages, but rarely for sale or show.  There is a Silver 78 in Coweta with red interior that appears to be for sale , but have never stopped to ask the price, but its been there a while, have space for meet and could probably arrange a show and shine at one of my stores. The Green country Mustang club has their annual show September 19th in Tulsa.  There are even a couple of Mustang II in the club.

More Pintos there apparently than in Texas (greater DFW area). Aside from 78TXPony (Rob) and myself, we are few and far between here.

Zolorg and 80pinto4banger,

Nice to hear of a couple more Pinto enthusiasts in Tulsa. After this weather clears up a bit, we need to meet out somewhere and get to know each other. I am east of Sapulpa. I would like to get to know you guys and see your cars and what interests you have with them.
