Title: C3 shift kit
Post by: slowride on May 23, 2009, 01:11:27 PM
I took the wagon into a local tranny shop this morning for a flush and to re-seal the trans pan. I mentioned the soft 1-2 shift and there is a slight delay into reverse or drive. They called back and said I needed linkage seals, a new modulator, and valve body work for $350. I told them to just do the flush and re-seal. From what I've read, the other symptoms are addressed by a $20 trans kit. Has anyone installed a Transgo SK C3 kit, and did it work as advertised? What is in the kit, and involved in the installation?

Tho sometimes it does Knock a little hard from 1st to second lol..

There's no problem finding a kit, just what is involved in installing it.The notes on the Transgo kit state is is to be used when rebuilding a trans. Whether that is because the kit does not include a gasket, or because the installation is quite involved, I don't know. Most kits I've seen in the past involve modifications too the valve body and are easily accomplished without rebuilding the trans. For $20, I think I'll take a chance and get it just to find out.
From the description, it sounds like the kit would take care of the issues I have with the trans.
"Corrects/Prevents/Reduces: Soft 1-2 shift; late 2-3
shifts; Passing gear spinups; delayed reverse; rough
reverse; excess passing gear; shuttle shifts."
