so i was riding in my pinto wagon about 5 years ago before i bought it and noticed that the speedometer was broken. it would bounce when you would accelerate. i don't know to much about cars. what should i replace?
Have you checked to see if the Gear is inserted all the way into the Speedometer? or if the gear at the trans is missing teeth?
nope i have not looked at that, when i get out to the pinto ill check that out. thanks
It sounds like your speedo cable. Every car I have had that had a speedo cable going bad did the bouncy thing.
The speedometer that I got from the 77 Pinto Wagon in Spokane Washington is like that. I don't use it in my car, but I did test it. My original speedometer is nice and steady though.
What was the problem? Get the speedo fixed?
well no, i have a huge list of things to do to the car. that was just one of them i had been wondering about. plus on top of that i may be selling the pinto
