I'm thinking of swapping a 350 Holley on my otherwise stock '80. What parts do I need to complete this swap? Is it pretty much a bolt-on, or do you need to adapt the choke, etc.? Is it worth doing?
Thanks!
David
I put a Holley on my 73 wagon. It was not a real problem. I bought a Spearco manifold for the 4 barrel, which was an easy bolt on. I had to fabricate a bracket for the stock cable to adapt to the carb, but that was the only minor thing besides getting the jetting right after install. It shouldn't really be a big problem for you. It really made a difference with the cam, electronic ignition, and headers that I put on it. Lots more power....
"Pinto's are cool"!
Remove the EGR plate, bolt on the 350 and enjoy! ;D You may or may not have to do some minor fab work for the throttle linkage. You can get the carb with an electric or manual choke.

Sounds pretty straightforward. Did the '80s have an electronic choke? You actuate it by pushing the pedal to the floor; it comes off by itself.
Thanks,

The '80 came with electric choke.
Thanks for the help!
my stock carburator crapped out on my 79' wagon. The local auto parts store wanted a arm and a leg for a new one plus I would have had to wait 3-4 days. Had a 4412 Holley left over from my racing days on the shelf.Modified the throttle bracket a little and added a thick gasket and away I went.Had to change the jets from #78 to #72 ...WOW that Holley looks cool under that hood.My next project will be to lower the drivers side floor board down about 2" so the gas pedal will go down farther. The farther down the gas pedal goes the faster you can go right? Isn't that how it works? :fastcar:
