Jello there poppets! I'm sure you remember me posting something about gas coming out of the carberator of my 1973 ford pinto wagon, well it turns out that when took a compression test it wasn't getting any pressure...so I took off the rocker arms and I was able to get a reading of 50lbs of pressure. Now I'm having a difficult time putting the rocker arms back on because I had put them on wrong the first time. I have a feeler gauge but everytime my friend and I go to do it together and I put the feeler gauge in and out and they turn the lock nuts the spacing between the valuve and rocker arm gets tighter. We were thinking about just gluing the damn thing together..haha. Any propostions?!
I'm guessing you are working on a 2 liter. It takes a bit of practice, indeed when you tighten the lock nut it can cause the lash to tighten up somewhat. When that happens, loosen the lock nut again and turn the lash adjuster down about a quarter of a turn and tighten the lock nut again. Repeat this process until you get the proper lash.
