Title: Roller Cam and Gas Mileage
Post by: dave1987 on May 09, 2009, 05:38:31 PM
I just picked up a roller cam and followers from the junk yard and will be installing it into my car next week.

What type of positive things should I notice? Primarily I am doing this for the peace of mind knowing it won't really wear down, or at least too much.

I have heard it reduces friction in the valve train, which makes total sense, and should be obvious. Because of this, does it also increase fuel MPG at all, if even a small amount?

Dave, from what I have been told it will help the fuel mileage.

My guess is because you have less friction, and where there is less friction there is less heat and engine wear. As I have yet to drive my car on the road with the roller cam I cannot testify to this but there are those out there that swear by it.
