HI all:
I sandblasted the Rally wheels that I picked up a few weeks back, and need to move forward. Here's the issue - they can't be powder coated (well, they >could<), because one wheel has some pitting in it, and the powder coating would not fill the pits. That's not the best solution, unfortunately.
Alternatively, I could do some bodywork magic to the pitted wheel, and paint all of them. WHAT paint would anyone here recommend as a durable wheel coating? I would think this coating needs to be tough, shiny, and scratch-resistant.
Anyone? Thanks.
Chris
Plastic Coat has a complete wheel system to recolor rims. a Cleaner, Adhesion Promoter, base color and a clear in rattle cans...
I redid my Daughters Pony rims with very nice results.
If your heart is set on powder coating you might braze and work the pits? or will this jack with the powder coating?
Best of Luck
Frank

Do you know offhand who would carry this line? Is it available at auto parts stores or other? Or do you have a website I can check? Please let me know, I would prefer to do it this way. Thanks!
Chris
OK Frank, I read between the lines, I think you meant "Plasti-Koat", if I am not mistaken.
Chris
Thats it..I didn't have the Can here in front of me at work...:P
Frank
No problem, thanks for the suggestion. I will head over to a Carquest today at lunch and see what they have available!

Dupli-color has wheel paint also, found at Autozone.
Thanks, I had not thought of Dupli-color (I did not remember what brand Autozone carried). I bought some red engine enamel at lunch, and went home and painted my ball joints.
Cherry red ball joints on dark metallic grey control arms. Can't wait to get it all installed. Woohoo!

I purchased SEM and Dupli-Color paints from a local paint shop when I did my rims. I will have to pull out the receipt to see exactly what brands they were though. It was about $50 in rattle can paint for primer, two colors of paint and clear coat.
