I have a 1975 4spd with the hurst shifter. On the last test run the trans lost the ability to select first gear. I pulled up the boot and the adjuster ring had backed off. I centered the stick and tightened the ring but no help. The shifter just wobbles all over the place.

BTW: it is the hurst shifter made for this trans. Since i know abosolutely nothing about this trans, any help would be appreciated???

PS: It does select 2, 3, 4 and reverse.

did some more trouble shooting and i believe first gear is gone...... Will a 77 gear box fit?????

75-79 Pinto 2.3 4spd trans should be the same.
