I have a Pinto engine with a point distributor out of the car. How do I tell if it is a 2.0 or 2.3 liter?

Filters in the front on a 2.0 and in the rear on a 2.3

Thanks. The guy I got it from thought that it was a 1973 2.3? I thought that the 2.3 wasn't made until 1974. Filter is in the rear, It's a 2.3. Thanks again.
