Title: Rebuliding brake calipers
Post by: dave1987 on April 12, 2009, 10:01:50 PM
How reliable is a DIY caliper rebuild? I can get a kit from rockauto.com for dirt cheap and was considering rebuilding my front driver's side caliper since it isn't that old.

I believe the last rebuilt calipers I purchased were $15 ea. unloaded.  In my opinion, they are cheap enough to just swap out rather than rebuild.  I believe I purchased them from the Autozone.  They have been on my crusing wagon for 3+ years now and no problems.  The reliability will depend on the condition of the caliper and piston.  The more pits to either, the less reliable they are going to be.
