Hi everyone, my name is Terry and I'm new on the Pinto board but I've been on the Maverick/Comet board for sometime.

I've now have a 1973 Pinto that will be my next drag car and look forward to all the advise and wisdom from you guys here.

The car is currently at the local Vo-Tech school where the body shop kids have done a bang up job with it so far, I'm sure it's going to look great Red White and Blue with some stars. (that is what the kids wanted to do so I said help yourself)

My plan is to put by backup motor into the pinto, a 351W stroked to 393 but was wondering if it's going to be has much trouble has it was in the Maverick (had to cut the shock towers back) and was hoping for some advise.

Thanks and I look forward to many a great posts.

No cutting required, but its tight on the '71-'73 models, i'm not sure what motormounts to use but i'll find that out for you as my buddy has a 351 in his '71. Headers..... you can buy expensive headers for the swap, but my buddy Tom, flipped a set of shorty headers and ran his exhaust under the front crossmember and it works great, he did have to notch the front frame rails to make it fit and also relocate the oil filter. It will fit a 302 with no frame notch. C4 tranny only, a C6 will not fit without MAJOR sugery on the trans tunnel.

Thanks guys for the info.
flipping the shorty headers is a very good idea, sounds like something I would do. :D
I'll post a pix or two as soon as I have them.

Thanks again.
