Title: sedan back glass seal
Post by: Pinturbo75 on April 01, 2009, 02:51:12 PM
after many calls to anybody i thought could help find or direct me to a source for the seals i talked to steele rubber products. they said they dont carry this item but if they had one to work with they could possibly make replacements. they also said it would be about a year before they could get to it since the list for requested products is so long. anyone have a spare in reasonable shape to donate to them for consideration of being produced? thanks steve.

Does the "donatie" get a free rubber when it is all said and done?? LOL

Would all year sedans be the same?? I could possibly send the one out of the 77 parts car. If not, I will have to debate real hard with myself to see if I want to let the 72 parts car rubber go!! LOL I would hate to send the 72 rubber and then find out a year later that they won't produce them!! I figure and old rubber is better then no rubber!!! LOL Did that sound bad or what!! LOL

If the 77 is the same for all years, let me know the address and any info I should send with the rubber!! Even better, see if they will pay for the shipping of it!! LOL

Kim ,
Free rubbers? Well maybe so ,these days ;D
Unless the glass is different , and all the unibody stampings for a trunk model aren't the same, I'd say to send a '77. My info says they are the same sheet metal for all trunks cars. Anybody have a Ford factory P/N for all trunk models?

My word, this could be a "Pokey" subject!

Pinto Hatch Seal‏
From:    Trent Poole (tpoole@steelerubber.com)

Hi Ernie,

Thanks for checking with Steele Rubber Products.

At this time, we do not have the seal for the full glass hatch on the
Pinto.  We are, however, in the process of reproducing all of the seals
for the Pinto hatchback, sedan and wagon.

If you have a spare seal or know of someone who does, we would really like
to see an original so we can get tooled up for it.

I am not aware of any company that does make that seal at this time.

If you have any questions, let me know.

Thanks again,

Trent Poole

When weather improves I will go find some seals out of cars I have stipped. I mainly have sedans!  I will email Trent and see how I can go about sending him the old seals! I think I have a rear sedan window seal, wagon window seals, both pop out seal and statioinary. I also may have some stationary sedan quarter window seals. I have at least one set of the sedan pop out seals, but not sure if I am willing to part with them as of yet. If I get another set, I will though!!

I will let you all know when and how things go!!!

Now when ordering these from steel rubber, do we charter members get a discount like we do on the windshield seals?
