Well, it's too small to be for a/c, I think. Where do the lines go? I suppose it could be an external engine oil cooler. Is there a fitting between your block and the oil filter?

I've got the same thing in front of my radiator. It looks like it could be a power steering cooler. I have not taken the time to totally trace it back but it certainly appears to be that.

Yep its a power steering cooler. I added power steering to my pinto and I did not install a cooler. The parts store has a listing for a power steering FILTER too. But I was never informed that the car that my parts came from ever had a filter on it. I don't see the filter or the cooler being necessary anyways. I drove the car for a year without either one with no ill effects.

I noticed that thing on the 77 bobcat I've been parting out at the junk yard. Every time I see it I wonder what it is for, always thought it was automatic transmission or something, but seemed small for that application. Now I know!

Anyone need one? The one on the car is clean and straight fins!

dave if it has 2.3L in it find out how much for the power steering pump, pulley and bracket as well as the pulley for the fan and the alternator. I have one PS setup for one of my pintos, one is converted already, so i just need one more and im done. (got 3 pintos) I already have 2 power rack and pinions.
