I have a 1980 pinto auto will I need to change my drive shaft? when I put in the 8" rear thanks for any help
Ive seen so many variable answers to that question that I really don't know what to tell you! When my car was a 4 speed and I put the 8" in it, I used the same driveshaft. It did go up into the trans about 1" more because the 8" is larger than the 6.75. Try a search on the 8" swap, maybe more info there.

BINGO...they are about 1 inch different. My old garage rule of thumb is: put the drive shaft yoke all the way into the trans until it stops (
EASY does it). Then pull it out 1 (one) inch. Mark it...THAT is the
MINIMUM you should allow before binding.
