Title: Stock header to tubular header
Post by: beegle55 on March 26, 2009, 11:07:53 AM
Looking for some upgrades for my 2.3L and am eying a tubular header off of a Ranger. Would this be a direct bolt-up to my current exhaust system or would it require modification because I just put the new exhaust on my Pinto and am not going to modify it. Thanks!

What I did for my NA 2.3 [turbo is coming] is use a factory ranger tube header and at the collector flange i cut off the mounting bubble.  what that did was give me a 2.5 exhaust in place of a stock 1.75 exhaust.  I made an other flange to blot up and it wwas as simpls as that.  I had a 2.5 exhaust system.

No not a direct bolt on. Yes you would have to modify the lead off pipe to fit the Ranger header.

As Jim said you will need to modify the header to take off the 1.75 restriction.
