Title: Making headway, slowly, but surely
Post by: zolorg on March 22, 2009, 08:53:09 PM
Have finally been working on my Pinto again, got the rally mirrors mounted, hope i put inside control in the right place( see picture ).  Took out thr heater core and found 5lbs or more of acorns in the air ducts, oh joy, also found a snake skin under the passenger seat carpet. Using the seats from a mustang II  had to switch the bases on the front seats, the rear seats are bit more challenging, due to a slightly different shape, but they should work with a little encouragement.  Pulled all the interior but the divers seat, so i could move the car.  The plastic interior trim panels in the back are a real challenge, due to years of fading and discoloration from any number of things.  Was thinking or painting or recoloring, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  I have also managed to mostly recondition my door panels, still have one wrinkle to iron out.  Also does the heater core box go in as easily as it comes out, I am guessing not.  Still have to get the ac condenser from SPI and make hoses for the ac.  I am still hoping to have her done by Memorial day.

Used a 5/8" drill bit and a dremel with a rotozip bit to shape the hole the rest of the way, not perfect but it works

I can talk to you about interior panel restoration. Send me an email and I'll go through a step by step process. It's a bit long to type here, and I don't have the time right this moment. Let me know if I can help - I did one of my wagon panels and it turned out pretty nice.
