Title: redoing an 80 pinto
Post by: sward on March 21, 2009, 09:26:49 PM
Hello, anyone have a picture of the underside of the dash on a 80 pinto. im missing a few things and need to figure out just what they are and where they go.  Also does anyone  know where the blinker fuse/relay goes?  thank you very much.

Your fuse box is located at the base of the steering column, on the right side of it under the dash.

The turn signal relays, seatbelt buzzer, and ignition buzzer are all mounted to the back of the fuse box.

Signal relay is round with three contacts.

Seatbelt buzzer is rectangular (usually white) with five contacts.

Ignition buzzer is also rectangular (but usually black) with four contacts.

My 78's flasher isn't attached to anything except a plug and two wires ???  It just kind of dangles back there. I had other cars that had a 'nub' on the top of the flasher (insert into the fuse box and twist). I just changed the flasher when I did the turn signal switch. The one that was in there said 'Motorcraft' on it, but that doesn't necessarily make it original.

Very true Chuck. I don't buy any of my flashers new, I just have a stock pile of ones pulled from various cars from the same era as mine which all seem to work fine.

I think I might be a packrat. This is the one I pulled out. I saved it cuz it still works-mostly. It doesn't keep time, blinks fast when it wants to and slow when it wants to, but it may be original, the car does have fairly low mileage. And besides, I may need a spare someday!
