I went to the Sun Valley Pick A Part for their March 13th - 15th 50% off sale. Not too much to be had.
Pinto's:
One, a 6-70 build trunk style, 1600, 4 speed dark green.
Hit in rear. Trunk, hood, doors, seats (front), windshield, dash pad are all gone. The bumpers and front fenders are bent, the grill broken. It still has most of the 1600 and the transmission.
I went to the other self serve yard, U Pick Part. Nothing!
That was about it. There were no Bobcats, Mustang II's, Merkurs, Turbo Coupes, SVO's etc. that we associate with "donor Parts" at either yard.
HOWEVER, I did find a 92 Mustang, 2.3 with a roller cam. :-) A fair amount of the parts were already removed and that expedited it's removal. I did have to bend the lip on the radiator cradle to get the cam out, but that took only a moment. All in all I had the cam out and everything marked in 45 minutes. From what I can see the head basically has to come out if you are getting it from a Ranger.
Great prices:
1 Roller Cam, $12.50 plus $2.00 core ($14.50 total)
8 Roller rockers, $1.00 each ($8.00 total)
8 Lifters, $0.25 each ($2.00 total)
I opted to get the lifters since the motor only had 80,000 miles on it and mine has 150,000+. I mean, hey, $2.00 for all eight, why not.
