Title: Interchageable?
Post by: Carolina Boy on March 12, 2009, 04:46:23 PM
My 78 headlight bezels (thanks to pintogirl , I know what they are called) are falling apart. I am hopefully getting s set from pintogirl, if they come off easy. Should that fall thru, will the 76 bezels fit the 78 fenders? I am pretty sure I'd have to use the 76 grille, though.

Also will the hood from the 76 fit the 78? The 78s hood is so rusted, it has pin holes.

I ask this because I want to have a backup plan. :drunk:

75-78 same fender.
74-78 same hood.
So you can use the 74-76 headlight bezels, turn signal lamps and grille on 77-78.
The headlamp sealed beam, bucket and retainer ring are the same 74-78.
I know what you mean about the 77-78 rubber fender extensions, most of them are are cracked.
I have Bobcat front end parts to put on my 77 wagon.

Removing the 77/78 bezels isn't all that complicated. There are two bolts on the lower edge where it meets the fenders, these are held together by a small metal plate. Then there are bolts on the four 'corners' of the headlight that need to be removed from inside the fender (IIRC 13mm), then 2 between the turnsignal and grille, and with a little gentle coaxing, it should fall off. :look:

p.s. I have a 'backup plan' too, I have a set of 75 bezels. ;D
