Title: Rocker Panel Protection?
Post by: dave1987 on March 12, 2009, 07:47:02 AM
I have the blue paint on my car missing in several spots on my rocker panels due to stone chip. The paint job wasn't professionally done, just a senior project for my brother at the end of high school.

I eventually plan to get the entire car repainted, but I would like a temporary fix for now, just so the car doesn't look like a blue giraffe with yellow spots!

Would painting the rocker panel with spray on undercoating look stupid on my car? I don't want to do something that makes it look hideous!

Paint stores can now match any color paint and put it in aerosol cans for you.  After sanding out the chips and primer coating the rocker panels you could put a coat of your color on the rocker panels and it would look very nice  and will last until you decide to paint the whole car.

The only problem with that is that the color mixture. I know it is Chrysler Canyon Blue, what I don't know is exactly what the concentration of pearl flake that my brother added to it. The color my car is doesn't match up to any of the "canyon blue" colors in the books at the shops. I have the original can of paint, but it does not state how much pearl flake was added.

Have you thought about installing some factory rocker panel moldings?

any of the places that do the spray in bedliners can take a few ounces of the paint you have already and add it to the liner material and spray your rockers to match. probably pretty cheap for that small amount of work.

TIGGER, I have a set in rough shape, but since I don't have wheel well moldings I think it would look funky.

4CAMMER72, I did not know they could do this! I will definitely look into it!
