Title: fuel filter on sending unit
Post by: blupinto on February 28, 2009, 01:01:41 AM
Hello Folks!

I pulled out the sending unit on my Pinto and the filter is no more. Is there a way to "make" a new filter for it til I can replace the sending unit?

Mine was missing from the sending unit as well when I pulled the tank to repair it. The NOS one I found had it intact.

Since this is an older style tank and pick-up unit I would think you could go to any better parts store (NAPA, Federated, Car-Quest etc,) and find one out of any "older" car that has a 3/16" pick-up tube and use it the same???? By the way it is called a "Fuel Sock" (in no way do I mean that in a derogatory manner).
When I re-lined my tank in my 80 Pinto Wagon mine was still in good shape so I re-used it, but it was just pressed on (with hand force) the pick-up tube.
Hope that can help.
