Title: custom wagon tail lights
Post by: dholvrsn on February 23, 2009, 09:57:15 PM
What have people done to customize their wagon taillights or to make them look more modern?

It's a great question - as I am entering this Spring planning bodywork and more restoration I have asked myself that very question. What I would >really< like to see is someone "modernize" the whole car - as in appreciably change it as though it were a new model. Styling changes would of course be more similar to modern vehicles, with different body shape, headlight/grille accents, taillight changes, interior changes, etc. Kind of a "concept car" feel....

I'm with Orange Crush on this one. The Focus was the Pinto's replacement and is still in production as the "modern Pinto", using that term VERY loosely though! Nothing compares to a Pinto though. I personally say, there isn't much you can do to improve it! :)

I agree - I don't think you can improve it either. And I HATE the Focus - whta a lousy little car....no offense to anyone that owns/enjoys their own.

This is what I plan to do to my wagon taillights.
I will put an amber 1156 in the backup lamp and connect the turn signal wire to it. I will also have to cut the brake lamp wire @ the stop light switch and run a new wire from there to the socket @ the rear stop light side of the tail lamp bulb. I may add some backup lights in the bumper or do without reverse lamps. I might have the only Pinto with amber turnsignals on the rear.  ;D

What I kind of like to do is get rid of the cheesy pot metal-chrome "door" and make a tail light assembly all plastic and that's flush with the sheet metal.

Make butting two flat truck taillight lenses together at an angle.

you could hide the pot metal altogether. french the tail lights on the wagon. or recess them about 1/4 in. should look pretty good.
