Title: Turbo Coupe Tach/Boost Gauge in Pinto
Post by: Wittsend on February 20, 2009, 11:19:07 AM
Hi,
I've had this idea for a while and finally got around to making it happen.  When I ventured into my Turbo Pinto project I wanted to transfer as much of the Turbo Coupe as possible. It took a bit of playing around, but I got the Turbo Coupe's Tach/Boost Gauge into the Pinto housing.  I'm going to use the "Ride Control" light for my "Check Engine" light.  A washer painted black and glued around the light covers it's former function.

While I would like to provide a step by step, measured process it is more of a "free hand" project. Hopefully if anyone is interested the pictures will help.

So where's the gas gauge?

"So where's the gas gauge?"

I have AAA!

Only kidding.  The next project (do they ever end) will be to make a housing to temporarily house the Fuel, Amp, Oil and Water gauges.  In time I will be on the look out for the gauge pack that mounts in the section the heater controls typically do.

At that point I'll move the heater controls to the console.  I'll also need to dump the Amp gauge as the pod only holds three gauges.

theres how mine was when i got it.  i still have that 3 guage pod if your interested.  i ended up buying textured plastic, link below, and made my own piece going from the guages to the vent.  it holds five 2 1/16 guages.  i also ended up getting rid of the heater controls because none of that stuff is in the car anymore.
