ive found a company that makes new floor pans for mustang 2's.. they are going to send me a set of the pans so they can be checked for fitment into the pinto. mine is a 75. ill post pics and results once they arrive.
Cool tip! I know that will help the people to the north and east! Hope it's a match!
Chuck
Not to be a buzzkill, but the MII pans are different, and will not fit. There has been a lot of talk about this - research the topic here and you will find that these pans do not match. I am not saying that they can't be made to work IF you are willing to modify the interior and accept floor differences and such to match, but one for one, they will not work.
Chris
i had heard that mentioned but from the pics they look very close. the company is sending them to me for free to verify whether it will work or not. my interior is empty right now so its not going to cost anything to physically verify this. if its close enough to tweek it should be known on the board since there is no other pan available. ill post pics as soon as they get here.
Hope it works out, it would be a HUGE benefit to the PInto community.
Chris
ok, got the new pans today and got to comparing them. this is what i came up with.
they are not a drop in fix. they are close though. with either a sandbag and hammer or cutting and rewelding ,reforming these can be a good replacement for your pan. specially if you have none.
the worst problem with them is the inner front seat mount hump.... it doesnt exist on these pans. i dont see that as a defining reason not to use them. both sides need work on this area. the outside area and footwells of the pans are a near perfect match. i think im gonna use them on mine. anyhow, here is where you can see what im talking about

this is the company website, http://www.body-panel.com/
it doesnt show the mustang 2 pans though. here is where i got the pans from

nice find! thanks for the pics too. luckily my floors are perfect, but the last 2 pintos i owned had some drivers floor rot by your heals. its good to know that there is a close pan out there. much better than flat oil canning sheet metal!

I have plenty of rust free fit perfect pans. Fred :)
Fred is your "one-stop shop" for most anything! And dadgummit, I still owe him some stuff....!
Chris
you know fred, thats interesting seeing how many threads there have been about floor pans. i dont recall you ever posting that you had pans available. sure does work in kinda convenient dontcha think?
anyhow, if anyone wants to see these pans installed let me know in this thread. if not i guess ill let this thing die....since you have a vendor now...
id still like to see. i think it would still be good to see how the aftermarket pans fit and look.
bob
4cammer72 I would like to see the fit and to know how much modifying. Fred :)
ok ive started the installation and its going rather well. im taking pics and will detail what ive done as i go along. im going to wait until im finished and put it all in a single link so it can be viewed as a single page instead of a bunch of posts. hopefully that will make it easier to follow. as a side note, eric, the guy with the company i got the pans from wanted me to pass along that anyone here on the board that wanted these pans just needs to mention the board and would get free shipping in the US. just to clarify,,,, i am not affiliated with them in any way shape or form. he may also be interested in talking to the board admin about becoming a vendor.
good deal on the shipping!! any help in the pinto community for repopped panels is needed. let us know when its ready!
bob
sorry its taken so long to get the finished pics of the mustang 2 floor pans on here... i forgot....

that dont look to hard to do nice job
brad :)
nice metal work!
i recently found some new information about our pintos that was interesting.... 1971 through 1974, and then 1977 through 1980 pintos have the same floor pans and 75-76 are different than the rest..... so after looking at the floor pans i believe the replacement pans i got and had to modify for my 75 are a near drop in replacement for the early and late models.. needing much less work to install than i went through..... the difference being in the shape of the tranny tunnel on both sides where the seat mount is located.....

I think this might be what I will do to my 78's floors before I repaint the car in the future. It's much more affordable and less stressful than trying to hunt down a good set of Pinto floor pans!
