How do I tighten the bolts that secure the ring gear to the differential carrier? I can't seem to find a way to hold the carrier still while I tighten the bolts down to 80 ft/lbs.
are you tightening them in the Diff housing? If so you can C-clamp it to something or use a make shift deal that will lock the lugs to a Board or something to keep both axles still. I believe that is what my friend did with his AMC rear end. he made a plate drilled out a 5 lug pattern on it and secured the plate to something else so that he could tighten the bolts
