Title: Idaho gathering!
Post by: dave1987 on February 12, 2009, 09:47:15 PM
I am looking into getting as many people as I can to join me for small car shows here in Idaho. This summer I plan to show the car in Boise, Meridian, Nampa and Caldwell at a few shows that I know of happen every year.

I would hate to go alone though, and am posting this as a shout out to those who live in my area to join me this year. It would be great if you could bring your Pinto and show this little city that there are more of these cars around than most might think. If you don't have a Pinto, but drive any other classic though, please bring that. Classic car shows and meets are far and few between here in Boise, and the only big ones charge and arm and a leg for admission.

Sonic's drive-in as well as Zips on fairview road in meridian were holding drive-up car shows every friday night last summer. I hope they are doing it again this year, as I missed out on every night.

I hope to see some fellow FordPinto.com members there!

lol. I bought ball joints yesterday from rockauto.com to make sure my car won't fall apart on the road trips I make this year! :D This summer I plan to chance the windshield gasket, and then all that is left is to find a replacement rear end, or at least a good carrier from a 6.75" rear and I will for sure be making it to central Oregon for your meet!

I'm not TOO worried about being the only Pinto driver there. I know three four Pinto people in Idaho, two of which I'm pretty sure would like to go, but the other two probably wouldn't care to much for it. Not only that, but I get A LOT of attention and comments when just driving down the road or getting into my car in a parking lot, so I think I might steal a lot of attention from the other kiddies. lol

To get a full boat pass it costs $350 however you need to be on the waiting list. You can just show up and participate in most of the events without having a pass you can cruise Reno and Sparks the first few nights for free  . Your able to go to the hotels and other hangouts like A&W for free. There is so much going on you'll have a great time.check out the website  www.hotaugustnights.com

i went to H.A.N. a couple of years back just to go and check it out. and one thing i can say is make sure you got reservations at a hotel the day after the show ends for the next year, or you might be s.o.l. for a place to stay. when i went, i went in my wagon so i just slept in it lol!!

TO enter your car it costs $150.00, if you can get in.  That will give you free passes to the auction and swapmeet.  I believe they are taking only 4500 cars per year.  Unforunately they only accept 72 and earlier models.  I have been there many times with my 67 coupe.  I have not been in the past three years though but am registered to go this year. Orangekrush is right about the hotel.  About 250,000 people come to town for the event.  You can go to any show and shine to look at cars for free. You need to be registered to participate in the HAN events, however there are plenty of other events at some of the other casino's that do not require registration.  You will see tons of rods and cars crusing around that you never would see at home.
