Ok you guys, how do I go about cleaning all the pine needles and such out of the cowl??? When I cleaned out the cowl that I cut out for Dave, I just turned it this way and that! LOL But Can't do that with it still attatched to the car!! LOL Do I have to take loose the box under the dash and force everything down through there with air??
I know it will drain better with all that junk out of there so I appreciate any help you guy's can give!!!

Haven't thought about it for awhile. When I did it on my 69 Torino, I just pulled the cover off and used a HD vacuum. I don't know if the cowl comes off the same. If you do't find out by Saturday, I will check my 76 since I am stripping it. Won't hurt to try a few things and hopefully find a way to do yours.
I put screening under the slots of the Torino cowl before re-installing.

Nah, this wont come off. It is welded on. The only reason I even thought about this in the first place was because of the crap that came out of Dave's. There's alot of stuff that gets in there!!!
I have been blowing air back and forth from one side to the other, trying to get it to come back up through the slots, but that sure is messy and time consuming. I'm hoping for an easier way!!! LOL
Kim check out my post under general pinto talk september 26 its the easy way to clean out. Fred ;D

Below is one recent thread, there are others. It is good to clean the debris out to prevent moisture collection and the subsequent corrosion.

if you take the hood hinges out of the cowl you can get a small vac hose in their. blow some air around and loosen it up. i took my heater box out to made it a little easier.
the heater box was also completely full of trash and sand, i think a mouse had been trying to get all my carpet pad up in their.

Hi Kim,
In my section of the country it's cottonwood and other leaves as well as moss.
Wait until summer (depending on when dry weather comes in your region). Cut the leaves / needles / etc. up -- once they've dried -- with a utility or butter knife, by pushing the knife through the cowl slats and cutting up at the leaves / needles; open the vent in your Pinto; and blow the dry leaf / needle fragments out through the vents -- until they blow out through your vents onto your seats / floor etc..
I've done this several seasons in a row and I still have solid metal underneath the cowl.
Now I'm thinking.... why didn't I just cover the hood with a cover over fall and winter?
But that's another story. :-)
Hope this helps you and other Pinto lovers.
