:surprised:
I read an artical that stated adding an extra shim to the spyder gear or spool in an 8" will make the rearend a POSI????? :-\ ??? :o
What do yall think??
Carolina Boy
I'm pretty sure that isn't what you would need to do. That would still leave it as an "open" Differential. You can Weld it and make a posse' That is what most 4x4 people do when they dont have the cash to buy a True Posse' rear end
what they are trying to do is to 'lock' the differential.
I have heard and seen this done on derby cars where the rules say the rear can't be welded solid. The last derby I went to he had it so tight that he had to take a long bar to get it to turn! It would be a hit and miss deal to find the proper shim to get enough slip when going around turns and still lock on launches. But yea, it does work, not sure about wear on the spiders, why don't you try it and give us updates?
After hearing that, you think I would try that? :surprised: I will just stick with doing it right with a REAL posi 8". :drunk:
doing it correctly isn't always the cheapest way or the quickest way. doing it correctly may cost a bit more in time & money but will ALWAYS be the best in the long run
