Title: Proper oil pressure?
Post by: dave1987 on February 10, 2009, 06:52:20 PM
What is the proper oil pressure for a 2.3L motor? Or, what should my oil pressure gauge be reading? at idle it sits at about 10, when revving it I can only get it up to about 43-45. Is this normal?

BTW, I am using a small cheap set of sunpro gauges, but 1/8" copper tubing. All the connections are tight, with no leaks anywhere.

Maybe a little low at idle but not bad, assuming it's not a new engine. It only takes about 5psi to turn off an idiot light.

That is at it fully warmed up.

The engine was totally rebuilt about 13,000-14,000 miles ago with a Ford kit though.

Rule of thumb...
10 psi for every 1000 RPM is excellent
