how similar are the floor pans from a mustang II in comparison to the 75 and up pintos?
It's a fair question, but nobody here has ever answered that. There was a place in Cleveland OH that sells repro pans for a LOT of vehicles (sorry, can't recall name - www.rustrepair.com?); I asked them about this compatibility, and/or if I could get a photo (since they have Mustang II pans), and they never bothered to respond.
It would be nice to know for people who NEED them. I don't believe Pinto pans will ever be economically viable for remanufacture.

I wouldn't worry about it fitting, I would worry more about the seat being level, as the Mustang II pans arn't raised in the same spots as the Pinto ones are. They COULD be used, but they wouldn't match up.
It would be more like taking an oversized piece of sheet metal that you had randomly stamped (for reinforcement), and trying to make it fit the pinto. You would have to trim here and there and hope that the end result it correct before welding it into place.
I wanted to take the floor pans out of a Mustang II at the junkyard last year, but upon closer inspection I realized how different they are.
Well ,
I would like to know if anyone has found out if the entire rear floor is the same for all M2 and Pinto Hatchbacks. 1: it would help on my research for prototyping a Replacement Fuel cell type tank to fit the stock rear deck. 2: it would help if the dimensions and profile were similar to allow for a aftermarket rear Watts Link setup that would bolt into the chassis. The costs would be more value oriented for both platforms.
Up front , the M2 has a different Crossmember & subframe, that alone could necessitate a different floor pan arrangement.
Weigh in if you would be in this market for a Dual Purpose track/street car. This would not be cheap ,but then Look at Griggs products for Mustang platforms. People will spend tha money.
