Title: Powertrax rearend
Post by: rkk on February 09, 2009, 03:28:19 PM
Just thought I would post this in case anyone is looking at changing their open 8" rear to Posi.  I just bought a Powertrax unit from Summit for my Pinto when I changed the gears to 3:89. This unit is great and cheap compared to a tractionlock or detroit locker rear.  Got it running over the weekend and it lights up both tires, added benifit it is easy to install.
If you have a turbo conversion or V8 conversion it is the way to go. :fastcar:

Personally powertrax is what i like, i use one also. I also used one on my round track asphalt car. To me they work much better than other lockers, much less noticeable unlocking than Detroit and much much more ridged than auburn. I think you will be extremely pleased with it but thats just my opinion.

it seemed very notchy.  it didnt take it much throttle to lock both tires on turns.  the trasition was on-off. it wasnt as streetable as they make it seem to me. i switched right back to the factory clutch style 8.8. just my opinion though.  then again...im running a mini spool now so maybe i was too picky.  maybe i had a bad unit also.
