Title: My car's coming along great!
Post by: r4pinto on September 15, 2004, 06:27:48 AM
Hey all,

about a month or so ago I purchased a 1978 Pinto Runabout, and i've sice been working on it alot.

Well, I've gotten the front from the fenders to the bumper looking really good, and the tranny's mechanical problem fixed.

This is mainly an update topic on my car, so here's all I've done so far:

2 front fenders
1 hood
1 rear bumper upper trim
1 passenger door- still rusty but not as bad
1 shifter assembly
1 downshift linkage
1 oil pan replacement
1 entire repaint with Walmart Kelly green
4 13" wheels & tires
1 dash crack filled in
1 fuse box retrofit w/ newer one
1 radio replacement w/factory unit
1 frt parking lights rewire from steering column connector
1 horn replacement

And soon, 1 driver door replacement, and 1 hatchback replacement.

I'll get pix up soon.

Good for you Matt!  If you are still looking for some hub caps there are a couple sets on Ebay.  May not be what originally came on "The Mean Green Machine" but they are Pinto caps.

Yeah,

I saw them, and it actually came after I had a reply on Yahoo group Pinto about an instrument cluster, and 4 hubcaps for the low price of 60 bux total.

I thought I'd have the money to pay for them this week, but I found out I was mistaken. I did find a cluster for a 1980 in the junkyard, so that'll be going in there for the time being. It'll be better than a crumbled up piece of plastic sitting in there, not even working right.
