Title: Finally... A break in my Pinto world!!!
Post by: beegle55 on January 29, 2009, 03:02:39 PM
 :fastcar:

I have finally found my next Pinto. And now I have a reason to celebrate. My new Pinto will be here next weekend. All I have to do is drive to Bristol and take delivery; I've made a down payment and shes mine. The car is a 1-owner Pinto owned by a man all its life, purchased right there in Bristol. It has fresh paint, totally rebuilt engine, new flywheel and clutch, balljoints, brakes, tire. Completely restored by the old man who died at 93 and the car was traded off for a truck by the family. Here is the link, the picture doesn't do the car justice. http://www.tpost.com/details.aspx?adnum=368118

congratulations SWEET looking ride!!!!

Thanks. I am so excited I might go Sunday if I can convince my dad to go with me early and get back in time for the Super Bowl. We both live in WV, I'm in Ripley so its about a 4 hour drive going 75. So we wouldn't even have to wake up terribly early to go and get the car. I wanted something to restore but hey I can't beat this car... its mint with a brand new engine for under $3000. You can't find a Pinto like it for anywhere near that price without a little luck  :hypno:

Ripley cool, I am in saltrock couple miles south of huntington, could almost hit you with a rock from here. Restore is fun but nothing like getting something like that ready to enjoy.

I see that you are working on a V8 Pinto. Got one of them, it isn't street legal or streetable, thats why I'm buying one to enjoy on the road. When you get yours on the road we might have to cruise sometime.

Dang, guys, all this talk of WV gets my heart going! I lived in Charleston back from 1983-1989 and had the time of my life there (I also restored a '57 Chevy while I was there)! Even dated a girl from Ripley at one time, but ended up meeting (and marrying) a girl that was a transplant from Ohio! So, Pennsylvania boy meets Ohio girl in West Virginia - they move to Ohio, then to Texas, and have been there (here) ever since!

Man, I miss WV - next time I am there to visit I'll look you guys up. Great memories!! Hawk's nest, Summersville lake, the (probably closed now) drive-in theater off of route 60 west of Charleston, the amusement park out near Huntington (along 64), downtown Charleston on the weekends, the Regatta, Kanawha City, swimming in the Kanawha, the old route 119 down to Logan, Interstate 64 when it was a two lane road through tunnels - wow!

Chris

West Virginia is a great place to live. I've visited Dallas and have a relative in Ft. Worth and it's beautiful as well. 64 is now a bustling, dangerous stretch of road full of tolls but there is still some beautiful scenery.

Nice looking car, they look good in orange. It's almost February, I keep teasing myself, I flip the calender up and look at Connie's orange Pinto.

Ironically enough we have reason to believe that the paint on our '78 might be the same as the one on my new one. We think we painted it with a '79 paint code named tangerine orange? We will have to wait and see it in person.

Amazing :amazed: car, is the interior as nice as the outside?  I'm glad you were able to get a Pinto, and equally happy that a young person can appreciate the Pinto.  These cars were a great piece of Ford History, and glad you recognize it.  Enjoy your new Pinto, maybe I'll see it some day at a car show.  The Wife and I are planning on going to Carlisle in 2011 for the 40th anniversary celebration, hope to see a lot of fine Pintos there.  Good luck with your new ride.  Larry :police:

The inside is told to be equally as nice as the outside. The dealer that has the car said all the car needs is a good vacuum job. It has been totally restored by the original owner which leaves me little work to do which is bittersweet as I wanted to work on the resto process but for the price of the car it isn't like I could turn this deal down. I was sold as soon as I called about it.
