Title: Dunebuggy Turbo 2.3 swap
Post by: Dunebugg on January 24, 2009, 03:38:32 PM
I posted this in the projects section as well, maybe the wrong spot.  I'm new to this forum thing. I have a Manx style dunebuggy currently powered by a '75 Pinto 2.3.  It runs great, I'm just looking to upgrade.  I am researching a turbo 2.3 swap and wondering if there are any years of TC that are better than others?  I have found several within a day's drive but am currently leaning to an '87 5+ hrs away.  I don't have the funds to buy a running TC and don't have any way to trailer one home so I am planning on making a run for a motor and accesories sometime in the near future.  I will also need to start from scratch pretty much on the wiring as I am currently running Ford, VW, and Chev parts.  Any advice on what all I should pic up on my road trip would be greatly appreciated. Or if I should try and find a different year of TC to swap?  I am new to the fuel injection, ECM, Turbo scene but want to learn.  I made the swap from a VW to a 2.3, I just look at this as the next step.  I have read all of the posts I could find about the swap, but feel free to refer me to any that you think would be valuable, or even websites for that matter.  I'm trying to learn as much about this swap before I get started so any help is appreciated.  Thanks.
