Title: MY 1st PINTO
Post by: pintoches on January 18, 2009, 06:18:54 PM
MY 1st car was a pinto I bought when I was 17 long gone.
I now have A 72 wagon that I love and can't afford to do much with.
But now I have the offer to get my 1st pinto back 77 trunk no engine.this would be a better choice for the V8 swap I have all ways wanted to do.

so what do I do?
pass on it a keep working on my 72
or get the 77 V8 it and just drive my 72

Its the actual first car you bought back then? or a look a like. if its the real deal first car i would get it and do the V8 and use the 72 as a DD till you get the swap done then restore the 72

Believe me, if I had the room and money was no object then I would have 23456...10 Pintos! Well, and a couple Mustang IIs.

I would get your original one back. If you don't, then you'll be regretting it 10 years down the road....:P

I've heard some sad stories about my elders selling their first cars and deeply regretting it.

If you can get your first Pinto back I would go for it.  I have owned about 5 and if I could get the first one back that would be the BEST.  (My first 73 Runabout red with a black interior, 4 spoke Cragers and Parnelli Jones tires.  First new car I bought $1995 full price, even ordered it from the dealer,  Brings back memories.)  But anyway got side tracked ,go for your first car you owned if you can only have one.  But two is better.

I agree. Buy it back & do with it what you want. You then have the 72 to drive & the tt to modify as you wish. Congrats on finding your first. I hear that is all too rare.

Wow :o   I'd go for getting the original Pinto back.  I wish I could get mine back (orange '74 Runabout that I bought new) - unfortunately it died along with its second owner in a horrific head-on collision in 1977.

WOW!!!!! If only I could get my first Pinto back (1971 Ford Pinto trunk model).  I'm sure it's been crushed by now and the metal has been used to build someone else's dream.  If it's not going to set you back a fortune, and you can afford it, please get it back.  If you don't, 20 years down the road you'll end up regretting it.  If you can't afford right now to put an engine in it, just store it somewhere, and do it when you can.  Good Luck!!!!!!
