Title: 4spd transmission swap question
Post by: dave1987 on January 04, 2009, 07:03:31 PM
I'm trying to figure out if the Mustang II 4spd transmission is the same length as the Pinto 4spd tranny. I'm wanting to drop a Mustang II one in since the shifter bolts down into the tranny and is angled, rather than threading in with a ring and straight up.

I think the mustang one is slightly longer then the pinto but i am not 100% about that. I will ask around and see what info i can garner for you .

Thanks man!

If it isn't to much longer, I can probably still use my existing drive-shaft, as there is still about 2-3 inches of space between the yoke body and the end of the stock tranny.

The 3spd auto in the bobcat was out of a mustang and we had to have the drive shaft shortened to fit. so i do hope that you dont have to do that. =) my uncles old stang II was a 4 spd. it was lots of fun.
