Hi guys:
Who here has had a tank requiring repair (meaning, with holes)? In your case, if you did have it repaired, would you please describe what you did and/or what sort of facility (radiator shop)? you took it to to have fixed? My tank has about a 3/16" hole in it, nothing unsalvageable, but I'm not sure what course of action is best. Think "cheap and adequate" here - I don't want to send it off to one of the "big boys" and spend several hundred $$ if I don't have to. In that case, I'd just buy a NOS tank - I know where there is one for $225. Thanks!
Chris
Sent mine out for repair http://www.gas-tank.com/ they were pretty resonable and coated the tank too. If you don't want to spend the money to repair it and cannot do it yourself, then the options are pretty limited. The NOS tank seems like your other option. Just keep in mind, if you get the tank repaired, do not discount needing a new tank o-ring seal for the filler neck. I was lucky, I found one new in the bag on ebay the day I needed one. Then there is the sending unit. Good Luck.
See my thread under projects - "Popbumper's '76 wagon" for an update. I just got it repaired and fully outlined in that thread.

Chris! I've repaired several tanks with a large solder iron. Solder will stick to them very well. None of them ever leaked again.
You can get a tube of "Seal All"
I think that's the name, but for reference perposes.. It's in a "Yellow" tube & package
Now I know this stuff WILL WORK, I've used it.
The tank must be empty (at least down below the leak) and the area around the leak must be VERY CLEAN (well sanded)
Then just follow the directions (on the package)
As I said above, I've used it, and it works. I repaired the tank (without taking it off the car) where the line goes into it about (maybe) 5 or 6 years ago. Its still doesn't leak
Possably safer then "Soldering"
If anybody cant find it at a parts store around them, send me a message or email (jimsfinefords@yahoo.com) I will get it and send it thru the mail.
Best to all,,,, Jim at jimspinto
