A mechanic freind of a freind told me that the Granada disc brake setup can be used on a Pinto. :amazed: Just remove the Pinto disc setup spindle and all, and bolt the Granada spindle and brake set right back in. This sound almost to good to be true. :surprised: Is he right?
Surprised in NC

There have been many posts on it. from what i can garner from the information there is no Direct bolt in from a Granada or 5 lug mustangs/mavricks. you have to get the disc drilled out or you have to get an aftermarket kit for the pinto. I would Search on the site for it and see what you can learn that way.
I think it was turbopinto72 that posted this and it works well, i just did my 71. I had to get disc spindles from a 72, then bought the disc brackets from ebay. The brackets have to be modified a little as you can read in his post. I bought 75 Granada rotors and wheel bearings, found some GM metric calipers in the junk yard off of a 78 Monte carlo. It is not a direct bolt in but if you have welder it is not bad. you will have to do a little clearance work on the upper controll arms but it is very good a cheap swap.
Here is the thread you need to read http://www.fordpinto.com/smf/index.php?topic=1103.0
:amazed: :o :o ;D :surprised: :surprised:
Hey thanks for the info. I did as you said and did a seach of the Pinto board and lo and behold it was Turbo's thread. He mentioned a site called rjays.com. I pulled up the site. They have a complete setup for the stock Pinto spindle. Rotors, brake and bracket for less than $250. You guys are great and I'm sure glad I found this wonderful club.
Carolina Boy :)
that is a good price, You can do it your self for under 100 with the new granada rotors but you will have to put some work in it.
Glad to help and thanks for that link. ( i needed to get set up for a 5 lug swap myself)
You did not say what year Pinto you had. The rjays.com site is set up for 74-78
Mustang II which is the same as 74-80 Pinto's. So if you have the later model Pinto things should just bolt together. If you have 71-73 Pinto, the TurboPinto72 thread is the one to follow (you will need early disc spindles).
If you have a 74-80 Pinto and just want to go to 5 lug, rjays, Speedway, and others sell the Granada rotors cut down to 9-1/4" to bolt on with the stock calipers (per their ads). This would be a easy way to go.

I build street rods and have installed 35-40 perhaps Mustang II/Pinto "style" front ends into early Fords and Chevys.
When doing 11" Granada rotors, I use Chassis Engineering part no AU-2045 http://chassisengineeringinc.com/page69.html (http://chassisengineeringinc.com/page69.html) (second item down) that adapts 80's Mustang and Thunderbird calipers to the Pinto spindles. I prefer to use Ford engineered parts if possible, but I really dislike the GM metric calipers.

Hey Mike I am kinda new to the pinto world i have been searching for alot different stuff and ways to do things to this project, i checked out the sight you posted and wow, its purty sweet thanks for the tip!! ;D
I switched my front rotors over using a SPEEDWAY MOTORS kit that converts to a five lug using new rotor kit. Also I converted my rear to five lugs using a rear end out of a 1997 Ford Granada --8.7 rear end slides right under the car and bolts right up...

I don't mean to sound rude, but a 1997 Granada? I didn't realize they made the car that late. I thought it stopped in the early 80s. Or do you mean 77?
