Pick A Parts in So. Cal are having their 50% off sale this New Year. It started Wednesday. At the yard in Sun Valley there is a 1972 Pinto. It is mustard gold-ish in color. Not too much left (as of Wednesday 5:00 PM), but the 2.0 and the auto trans were mostly intact. Some of the front suspension, the hood and drivers fender are gone. The passenger fender wasn't too good.
The doors had a Pinto logo stick-on around the lock. The door panels are white with a different than standard (upgrade) embossing on them. They are a little wavy, but the vinyl looks decent.
There were two Mustang II's. One was a V-8 with an 8", 3.00. The other a V-6. I got a set of four of the stamped steel "mag" style Mustang II wheels with decent 175-70-13" tires for $7.50 each. As it goes with Pick A Part it was $39 and change out the door with all the taxes and fees.
Anyway, just wanted anyone with interest to know. Sorry I forgot to mention it earlier. Oh..., and, NO, it is 80 miles round trip, so sorry, but I can't run back and get something for somebody. :-(

You are soooo lucky to have access to a "pick a part" and have warm weather to boot!
When I used to live in California (Torrance near LA) I always went to "pick a part"!
I think it was in Long Beach or Wilmington.
What would blow me away was some people would work all day to get used brake shoes, radiator hoses, camshafts, timing chains, etc. What were they thinking?
Yes, I agree. Nothing racially meant but 90%+ of the clientele is Hispanic. These guys will remove tires the hard way - by hand (with pry bars). They can buy the whole tire and wheel (steel) for $1.00 more. Seems like a lot of work to save a literal buck.
Recently there is now a law that limits tires sales to something like 20 tires per person. So these guys will come in with their "amigos" just to be able to buy more tires.
In spite of my not grasping their logic, many have been very helpful, freely willing to help when something is causing a struggle needing an extra hand or two.
But, yea, I love Pick A Part type yards. I plan my vacations around them and will spend 10 hours on a 100+ degree day. I come home tired and filthy and I'm as happy as a kid jumping in rain puddles. :)

Agreed that pick a part yards are the best and most fun!
I just wish mine would put sales on now and then. :(
As Tom does, I plan vacations around the yard visits and will spend hours a day out there just browsing the rows of cars and pulling what is interesting, rare or useful. The excitement on the drive to the yard is overwhelming sometimes! ;D
Wish i could get to mine its an hour or more drive to get there.
