Has anyone ever installed a dealer air system? I have one that I pulled at a salvage and am getting ready to install it in my 78 pinto. the physical installation looks straight forward enough, but I am looking for a wiring diagram to know how the motor wires up, one of the four wires on the motor was cut when I pulled it and I have yet to get the motor to work, and need to know what the 4th wire goes to. Also I am wanting to upgrade to a new style compressor has anyone done this, I am making an adapter plate to bolt on to the original bracket and wanting to know if anyone has tried this and what tips they might have? thanks
I can't account for the 1978 air version, but on the standard (1973) there are three wires that come from the control switch in a single plug (these go to the resistors in the heater box). There is a separate wire out (next to the three other wires)that goes to the + side of the motor and a wire on the motor (black) that runs to ground.
Hope that gets you somewhere.
Tom
That is a good start thanks, motor may be bad system is actually out of a 74 I think.

My '76 has a dealer installed A/C system - it MIGHT be the same as yours - can you provide pics?
Chris
The 74 has orange wire coming from resistor to blower motor. The 78 does not have the extra 5th wire. 01 is 78. 2 and 3 are 74. Fred :)
Thanks for the picts and info got it figured out and got the blower working. Now I just have to find a suitable new style compressor (still doing the research) and have hoses made and put everything together. (the fun part)
